C.M.C. Group Charter of Corporate Behavior
Under fair and free competition, companies have a role to play in driving the realization of a sustainable society by creating added value and employment that benefit society, and by acting autonomously and responsibly. To that end, the C.M.C. Group — both in Japan and overseas — will fulfil its social responsibilities with high ethical standards, in accordance with the following ten principles, while complying with relevant laws, international rules and their underlying spirit.
01
Through innovation, develop and provide products, materials and services that are useful and safe for society, thereby pursuing sustainable economic growth and the resolution of social issues.
02
Engage in fair and free competition, proper transactions and responsible procurement. Maintain sound relationships with political bodies and government agencies.
03
Disclose corporate information proactively, effectively and fairly, engage in constructive dialogue with the wide range of stakeholders around the company, and work to enhance corporate value.
04
Conduct management in a way that respects the human rights of all people.
05
Provide consumers and customers with appropriate information on our products, materials and services, and communicate with them sincerely, so as to earn their satisfaction and trust.
06
Develop employees' abilities and realize ways of working that respect diversity, personality and individuality. Also maintain a comfortable working environment that gives due consideration to health and safety.
07
Recognize that addressing environmental issues is a challenge shared by all humanity and an essential requirement for the existence and activities of any company, and act on our own initiative.
08
As a good corporate citizen, participate actively in society and contribute to its development.
09
Maintain thorough organization-wide crisis management in preparation for the actions of antisocial forces that threaten civic life and corporate activity, as well as terrorism, cyberattacks, natural disasters and similar events.
10
Top management shall recognize that realizing the spirit of this Charter is their own responsibility, shall build effective governance, and shall ensure that the Charter is thoroughly understood within the company and across group companies. They shall also encourage the supply chain to act in accordance with the spirit of this Charter. Should a situation arise that runs counter to the spirit of this Charter and causes a loss of public trust, top management shall take the lead in resolving the problem, identifying its causes and preventing recurrence, thereby fulfilling their responsibility.
